"Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose." (Phil 2:1-2)

The years that I have spent playing the game of baseball have been full of highs and lows. That is part of the game. The highs were easy. Believers and non-believers alike do a great job of dealing with success. But in the valleys, I allowed my joy for life and my witness for Christ to be taken from me. I suppose I will never be jubilant while going through a slump, and I don't think God wishes for us to take defeat easily. However, He does desire that we be steadfast -always working toward a positive outcome.

I once had a person tell me that in this game, perception is everything. I believe that statement is true in life as well. In Phil 2:5 Paul writes, "Your attitude should be the same that Jesus Christ had." Our attitude is what makes up our whole being. It shapes how we view every aspect of life, and how others view us.

I have seen people with everything this world has to offer, but they aren't happy. The difference is God's presence. Before I completely turned my life over to God, any little thing bothered me. But, now, knowing God is in control has helped me to relax and enjoy both the game and life a little more.
