 The Power of Prayer

HTF would like to say a special, “THANK YOU” to all of our prayer warriors. Your prayers are powerful! The March team had an outstanding trip.  They were able to get all 18 bags of equipment through customs, even though things have gotten tighter in the Havana airports.  Most of the equipment was for our Sport’s Ministry’s little league.  It is desperately needed, as the guys will be holding a baseball camp this summer for 1,000+ kids!

The team carried in 800+ baseballs, at least 100 little league jerseys, hats, & socks, 35 pants, 96 bats, 7 catcher's gear, 7 catcher's gloves, 26 gloves, 7 pairs of cleats, and bases, not to mention the youth gear! After being pulled to the side and questioned, not a single bag was opened. We praise You, LORD!!

Rev. Johnson & Annette just returned from Cuba and they, too, were able to get their bags through customs, no questions asked. Their bags contained more equipment, as well as adult discipleship workbooks. To understand the miracle of all of this, you must know that a friend of theirs coming in on a different airline was pulled to the side and interrogated for an hour. She had to pay over $300, so that her personal items would not be confiscated. In her bags…a few discipleship pamphlets. She was told the material was illegal. Keep those prayers coming!

While in Cuba, Rev. Johnson & our Mailbox Club partner met with 22 of our leaders in the center of the island to train them for children’s discipleship material distribution and to confirm rules & regulations for the upcoming sports camp. Our leaders are in great anticipation of what God is going to do through this little league camp, involving over 80 teams. Please continue to be diligent with your prayers. We appreciate you! For more information on this thriving ministry, check out new video footage at:

"I just wanted to let you know what an honor and a privilege it was to participate in your ministry.  My experiences on this trip have left a permanent mark on my soul.  The 'Cuba for Christ' ministry is on very solid footing and is doing impressive things in the face of less than favorable odds.  You have some true warriors on the front lines there that are carrying out God’s message each day.  Their sacrifice, determination and passion are truly moving and inspiring."

 The Face of Jesus

The Pochocuape Christian Center in Nicaragua was in desperate need of a workroom for the feeding center warehouse HTF put up in 2009.  Thank you, March construction team & all those who contributed to this project!  Within 3 weeks, this project was paid for and the team was on the ground, completing this building in 3 days.

While making the post video for this trip, we had a “God moment.” Have you ever had one of those? When the breeze blows in your face and you feel the presence of God. When you have a need and it’s supplied almost immediately. You realize He is so real, so intimate.

Take a close look at this picture. What do you see? A block building? We saw…the face of Jesus. Take another look. Top (front) left-hand corner, 2-4 blocks down. Do you see it? Call us crazy, but the image in this picture and the live video footage is sweet assurance, knowing what a mighty, yet personal God we serve. He works in and through us to accomplish His purpose and He is watching over the ministry that takes place in these precious feeding centers.

Help Us Set the World on Fire for Him!

 Summer’s Blog from Honduras

“Everything I Ever Wanted to Be as a Kid, I Am.” I distinctly remember elementary school.  I can tell you all of my teachers’ names, where their classrooms were, and how I spent a typical day.  I loved everything about school, because when you´re a kid, you don´t have the pressures and responsibility of adult life pressing down on you. The only thing weighing down on your shoulders is the weight of your best friend as you try to help him across the monkey bars.

When I was a kid, I stayed after school in the Extended Day Program until my mom could come and pick me up when she got off work.  Some of my absolute best memories are from those short hours between 3 and 5 when school was over, and it was nothing but recess time with all of my friends.

We would make up dances, practice cheerleading, play board games, do arts & crafts...all the good things that childhood is made of.  So for six years, I dreamed of being an actress, a singer, a painter, a musician...well, that was before I grew up.  When you´re a kid you can dream about being anything, because no adult wants to kill your imagination or your sense of hope... but as you grow, people become more blunt.  You learn you´re not as talented as you thought you were, or that other people out there are just more talented.  It´s funny that we call it "grow"ing up. The world doesn´t get bigger as we do, it gets smaller, along with our options.

When I was a kid, I wanted to sing and dance and make art and do cheerleading. For years, I forgot about it; accepted that it couldn´t be done.  But here in Honduras, I´ve gotten to do all of those things.  I teach cheerleading to the girls, so they can cheer the boys on during soccer games.  I sing with the kids and teach them new songs and how to play piano and guitar.  I make up art projects out of whatever materials I can find lying around.  I dance with the girls for chapel and teach them new moves and different forms of dances.  I act out stories and make up characters and voices during reading time.

Everything that I ever wanted to be as a kid, I am.

Who says you can´t make all your dreams come true?!

Upcoming Missions:

May 3 – 6: Pastor Johnson and Cliff Hall head to Honduras to prepare the way for the June mission.

May 24 – June 4: Please cover the Lee University team in prayer, as they travel to Cuba to work with our Sports Ministry.

June 24 – 29: Our June team will be putting a much needed roof on a church in El Progreso, Honduras and adding a second level to an existing building for a “mission house” at Mercy Christian Academy in San Juan Pueblo. A group of women will evangelize the community.

July 7 – 13: The Peru team needs your prayers. Projects are a little more difficult to facilitate in this area and a significant amount of funds are still needed. The men will construct a new church/school in Jicamarca, while the ladies and youth conduct VBS, school programs and outreaches to the women of the community.

August 4 – 9: Team Nicaragua will be constructing a mini feeding center warehouse and shelter for cooking, as well as evangelizing and working several feeding center communities.
